Clyde is about fifteen miles east of Abilene and was a very prominent railroad town back in the 1800’s. The railroad caused many people to move to Clyde, helping establish it as a town. Some settlers didn’t even plan on staying at first, having to go back to their homes and collect all their belongings to move to Clyde. Once more people started to populate the area more work was needed as well as schools, homes and eventually a post office.

Today in Clyde there are many festivals, dining experiences, parks and events for everyone to enjoy. It is a close-knit community where you can easily get to know your neighbors.

The downtown area is being restored as well as welcoming new businesses into the area. Clyde's economy continues to grow and expand which can supply a wide range of job opportunities.
