Shay Senter is the Owner of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Senter, REALTORS®, a locally owned brokerage that has served Abilene and the Big Country since 1957. A lifelong Abilene resident, Shay has more than 16 years of experience in the local real estate market and was honored as the 2025 Abilene Association of REALTORS® Realtor of the Year, recognizing his leadership, professionalism, and service to the industry.
Shay represents the third generation of ownership of the Senter family brokerage and the fourth generation of REALTORS® in the family. The company was founded in 1957 by his grandfather Bill Senter, later led by his father Scott Senter, and today continues under Shay’s leadership. For nearly seven decades, the Senter name has been associated with trusted real estate guidance for families and businesses throughout Abilene.
Over the course of his career, Shay has served as an agent, manager, and broker, working across both residential and commercial real estate. He holds several respected industry designations including GRI (Graduate REALTOR® Institute), CRB (Certified Residential Broker), ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative), and C2EX (Commitment to Excellence), and is currently in final approval for the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation.
Shay is deeply involved in the Abilene community and believes strong communities are built through service and leadership. He is a graduate of Leadership Abilene, City University, the Texas REALTORS® Leadership Program, and the Dale Carnegie Training Course, and is also an Eagle Scout and AbileneBIZ 20 Under 40 honoree. Over the years he has served or volunteered with organizations including the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Abilene, Future Fund, Habitat for Humanity, and the Abilene Association of REALTORS®.
Outside of real estate, Shay enjoys musicals, orchestral performances, Marvel movies, board games, snow skiing, and searching for the next great barrel-aged imperial stout. Above all, Shay is passionate about helping people succeed — whether guiding clients through buying or selling property, advising investors, or mentoring the next generation of REALTORS®.
